Ensure your grass does not turn brown and die from grub damage with our treatments.

In July and August, white grubs begin to hatch and start to dine on the roots of your cool-season grass. These beetle larvae pose a threat to the health of your lawn as they can kill grass quickly without treatment.

Our lawn care company provides grub control applications to residential and commercial properties in Granger, Elkhart, South Bend, and surrounding areas in northern Indiana.

Where White Grubs Come From & the Damage They Cause

Lawn damage from grub worm infestation near Elkhart, IN.

When adult beetles such as Japanese beetles or June bugs lay eggs in the soil, those eggs end up hatching white grubs, which is their larval form. Those grubs will start devouring the roots of the lawn as soon as they hatch in late June, July, or August. As they pass through your lawn, they leave a wave of destruction, killing the grass as they go.

The extensive damage they cause can waste the money you spend on other lawn care services such as fertilization and weed control. Common signs of grubs in your lawn include:

  • Brown patches showing up overnight
  • Increased amount of animals in your yard
  • Dead grass that rolls up like carpet
  • Spongy-feeling dead grass

If you see more birds, raccoons, or other animals rooting through your grass, it is likely you have grubs.

Why You Need Preventative Grub Control

Without treatment, grubs will destroy all of the grass on your property. Once this happens, your only recourse will be to use lawn repair services or sod installation. There are ways to repair your lawn other than adding new sod, but they can take quite a while to establish themselves, meaning you will have a brown lawn for quite some time.

A preventative grub control treatment will stop all of this from happening and ensure that your grass will be healthy. Avoid grub damage with this application. At Grow Pros Lawn Care, LLC, we apply this treatment in June to give the insecticide product time to soak into the soil and kill off the grubs before they hatch.

If you do not elect to have preventative grub control applied and grubs start to hatch and cause damage, we can also apply a post-emergent, or curative treatment that will help kill them at that point. Keep in mind, however, that the grubs can still cause some damage between their hatching and the post-emergent application.
